D-11 Program coaxes dropouts back to school

Colorado Springs Gazette   September 13, 2008

Colorado Springs District 11 recently launched a new program called "Bridges to Opportunity."  Through a state grant, the district hired two counselors to work specifically with high school dropouts and students at risk of dropping out. With a graduation rate less than 70%, the program provides students and those who have dropped out information about education alternatives.  An important feature of the program is that they contact students who have dropped out and work with them to bring them back into the education system.
