A group of educators and leaders is working to launch as many as 100 new schools in the next decade. Based on models in New York, San Francisco and Chicago, the Get Smart Schools are a collaborative effort to import successful school models to Colorado. Instead of trying to transform unsuccesful schools, the group focuses on helping promising schools find facilities and creating new schools to improve school choices for low-income families. The first two schools will be funded by three major donors in Colorado: the Piton Foundation, Daniel's Fund and Donnell-Kay Foundation.
